Award season is in full swing, and I want to take the opportunity to promote our award-eligible stories. Next week, we’ll be back with another wonderful story.
I am proud to announce that many of the wonderful stories we’ve published here at Androids and Dragons are eligible for the Nebula Awards (for science fiction and fantasy), the Ursa Major Awards (for stories featuring anthropomorphic characters), and the Coyotl Awards (also for stories with anthropomorphic characters). What follows is everything you need to know about these awards and how you can nominate and vote for our stories. Note: although not everyone is eligible to nominate and vote for all of these awards, the Ursa Major Awards allow everyone to nominate and vote.
The Nebula Awards
Several of our stories are eligible for the Nebula Awards. The Nebulas are awarded to science fiction and fantasy stories published for the first time during the calendar year. Eligible stories include the following:
“Rhapsody of Stolen Feathers” by Frank Alvarez
“The Inventor Queen” by Jenna Hanan Moore
“Life. Void. Winter” by Robert Pettus
“Finally, the End of the World” by Amanda Burton
“Bits and Pieces” by Thomas Koperwas
“Molybdenum Ice” by Keith ‘Doc’ Raymond
“Stop Mother” by Kate Saunders
Only members of the SFWA (Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers Association) are eligible to nominate stories or vote for the winner. If you are eligible, please consider nominating one of our deserving stories before February 28. For information on the nomination process and a link to the online ballot, go to the Nebula Awards website and scroll down to where it says, “Nebula Nominations.”
Anthropomorphic Fiction Awards (the Ursa Majors & Coyotl Awards)
There are three awards for stories featuring anthropomorphic characters, and some of the stories here at Androids and Dragons are eligible for two of them—the Ursa Major Awards and the Coyotl Awards. Both awards are given to stories published for the first time during the calendar year that prominently feature at least one anthropomorphic character. Eligible stories include:
“The Night the World Almost Ended” by Jenna Hanan Moore
“Rhapsody of Stolen Feathers” by Frank Alvarez
“Life. Void. Winter” by Robert Pettus
“A Familiar Place” by Renee Carter Hall
Anyone can nominate stories and vote for the Ursa Major Awards! The nominations period opened on January 20 and will continue until February 17. Voting on the nominated finalists will begin on March 1. For more information, please visit the Ursa Majors’ website: https://ursamajorawards.org/index.htm.
Only members of the Furry Writers Guild can nominate and vote for the Coyotl Awards. The nominations period for the Coyotl Awards will be February 15 to March 31. The voting period will be April 1 to May 1. More information can be found here: https://coyotlawards.com.
