About the Journal

Androids and Dragons is a journal of and about speculative fiction. Initially begun by the editor as a platform on which to self-publish a few of her own stories that were no longer available to read online, it soon expanded to include pieces by a variety of talented authors.

But why Androids and Dragons?

Dragons because, well, who doesn't love a good dragon tale?

Androids because speculative fiction at its best makes us think more deeply about the human condition. I’ve always loved stories about characters who are almost-but-not-quite-human—characters such as robots, androids, artificial intelligences—exploring their humanity precisely because they do this so well. Think Data, Seven of Nine, or the holographic doctor on Star Trek.

Not every story here at Androids and Dragons will feature mythological creatures like dragons or not-quite-human characters like androids exploring their humanity, but that will be our wheelhouse.

About Our Editor

Jenna Hanan Moore is an author of speculative fiction who loves to travel, take pictures, drink coffee, geek out on Star Trek, sing along with the radio when she’s pretty sure no one is listening, and immerse herself in nature or a good story. Her short stories can be found in places like The Lorelei Signal, Twenty-two Twenty-Eight, Land Beyond the World Magazine, Luna Station Quarterly, 365 Tomorrows, Friday Flash Fiction, Little Old Lady Comedy, Dog Tales, and The Daily Drunk. She has stories forthcoming in Savage Planets and an anthology called AI, Robot. Her essays and a few of her stories can also be found right here in Androids and Dragons.
