Issue 12 - September 2025
Time

Welcome to the September 2025 issue of Androids and Dragons. As the seasons are changing, perhaps it’s no surprise that the theme for this issue is time.
There are actually two themes: the passage of time and traveling or sending messages through time. In one of our stories, these themes overlap in a surprising way.
Time travel stories often involve questions about changing the past. What could go awry if the time traveler alters history? Is it even possible to change the past? These questions lead to another question: if it’s not possible to change the past, is it possible to affect the future?
Our stories ask important questions about the simple, linear passage of time as well. Why do we long for a different season, be it a different season of the year or a different season of our lives? How does one season give meaning to another? How do we change over time?
What if you could contact yourself from another era, or someone very much like yourself? What would you say? What if you could stop the next season from coming? Would you?
Admittedly, the stories in this issue are rather loosely connected. They do, however, have one very important thing in common: all are enjoyable to read. I hope you will enjoy them as much as I did.
The following stories will be presented on the dates in parentheses:
“Past and Present Company Excepted” by Lawrence Dagstine (September 15)
“Dear Jane Rutledge” by Jenna Hanan Moore (September 22)
“Craving for Another Summer” by Emmie Christie (September 29)
