Happy Equinox and welcome to the Spring 2024 issue of Androids and Dragons. The theme for this issue is dragons!
Dragons have long been a staple of fantasy fiction, and with good reason. One thing I’ve always loved about stories featuring dragons is the staggering variety in the way dragons are imagined and presented. That’s true of the dragons in this issue. Some have the power to grant wishes; others are able change into and out of human form; still others have no unusual powers at all. Some of the dragons are at odds with their human neighbors, while others live among us much like beloved household pets.
Here at Androids and Dragons we’re partial to stories that give us a glimpse into the dragon’s point of view, and the seven stories in this issue do exactly that. Not all are told from the dragon’s perspective, but each story at least gives some insight into what a dragon is thinking and feeling.
Over the next several weeks, we will be presenting the following stories, which will be published on the dates stated:
“Thunderbirds, Kraken, and Other Dangers to Dragon Reproduction” by Amy Wethington (April 1)
“Pocketed” by Lorraine Schein (April 8)
“His Career as a Dragon” by Reggie Kwok (April 15)
“The Dragon Guide’s Diary” by Ian Martínez Cassmeyer (April 22)
“Red Lair” by Kevin Hopson (April 29)
“Under the Cherry Blossoms” by Vonnie Winslow Crist (May 6)
“Daisy’s Tale” by Jenna Hanan Moore (May 13)
After our run of dragon tales, Androids and Dragons will be taking a short hiatus, but we will be back in June with more stories from talented authors. Meanwhile, I hope you will enjoy reading about these dragons as much as I did!
I love dragons! Looking forward to the stories. I love your picture of the two dragons. 😊
